Juvenile Detention Center
The Juvenile Detention Center (JDC), located in Olathe, KS, is a 70-bed facility which houses juveniles from ages 10-17. JDC is a secure youth detention center used by the Johnson County District Court to hold juveniles who are awaiting detention hearings, Juvenile Justice Authority placement, placement into a Kansas State Juvenile Correctional Facility, or release back to legal guardians.
JDC provides the following services to all of the juveniles housed at the facility:
- Onsite medical care
- Visitation schedules
- Mail privileges
- Recreational activities
- Sanctions House
- Mental Health Services
- Crossroads Treatment Program
The Juvenile Detention Center has been accredited by the American Correctional Association since August, 1999 and is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
The Juvenile Detention Center has an extensive volunteer program. Approximately 120 active volunteers provide a multitude of services to the juveniles including:

- Bible Study
- Life Skills
- Sunday religious services
- Victim Impact Panel
- Mentorship Program
- Johnson County Health Department Instruction
- Johnson County Regional Prevention Center Instruction
- Johnson County Library
- University internships
