Juvenile Detention Center

The Juvenile Detention Center (JDC), located in Olathe, KS, is a 70-bed facility which houses juveniles from ages 10-17.  JDC is a secure youth detention center used by the Johnson County District Court to hold juveniles who are awaiting detention hearings, Juvenile Justice Authority placement, placement into a Kansas State Juvenile Correctional Facility, or release back to legal guardians.

JDC provides the following services to all of the juveniles housed at the facility:

Education is administered by the Olathe School District (USD 233). All credits accrued while in the facility are transferred to the school in which the juvenile is currently enrolled.

The Juvenile Detention Center has been accredited by the American Correctional Association since August, 1999 and is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
